New rules have been made for the use of room scaffolding.

To comply with the new room scaffolding standard EN1004-2, you need to meet the following criteria:

• For a platform height of up to 1 metre, hip rails on 4 sides and knee rails on 3 sides must be fitted and additional stability devices are required. ((mini) stabilisers). For a platform height of up to 1 metre with an additional risk of falling, such as when working on mezzanine floors where there is a risk of work equipment falling off the mezzanine floor (determined on the basis of an RI&E), a toe board is necessary on three sides
• from 1 metre platform height, all-round guardrails should be provided, consisting of hip and knee rails plus toe boards, and the room scaffold should be accessed from the inside (platform with trapdoor). Additional stabilisation in the form of (mini) stabilisers is also required.
